Sixth??

- Sixth, what do ya do with 6th? We pick Drummondville's Sean Couturier and keep your mouth shut! It appeared as though he was somehow coming to us all along!

- How appropriate if of thirty teams the two most likely to get the shaft and lose one spot...us and the Islanders...there is a reason the lottery is cloistered, secluded from the world!

- Bryan's reputation at the draft has now definitely preceded him so just a solid showing should be enough to bring home the beacon.

PS: Cory, you egghead, we should be picking no worse than third (3RD)...fair THEE well!

  1. Yep. The draft being secluded sure is bullshit. How on earth can they justify that? I mean, it doesn't even make good tv... it's ridiculous in so many ways.

Oh well... we'll always have those late season wins to remember. What a great run. Especially those two wins against the panthers... awesome. Really helped us long-term. Good thing BMil didn't just sign Anderson in the summer (for less than he did), or trade for his rights after the season ended.

Oh well, we'll have a lottery pick next year. Maybe we can get Galchenyuk or Yakupov.

  2. Does anyone ever get to see the so-called ping-pong balls in action, or do they just stuff the glossy team logos into over-sized envelops in whatever order they see fit? Looks like a lot of smoke and mirrors to me...

  3. Uncle Lou must have slipped a few "greenbacks" to the "bean counters" to tape some balls to the bottom of the container. 3.6% chance of winning - who would have thought?

I agree with pg somewhat - I still don't disagree with the signing of Anderson (still no guarantee he would have landed in our lap), but couldn't we have played McBackup a bit more, you know, to evaluate him!

  4. Gentlemen...the hand has been delt (ever see the man from Vegas shuffle three decks and then call your hand before it is delt to you!)

We can handle the draft, now can we hire the right coach?

  5. I kind of hope we don't hire Cameron. I'd rather see a guy who wants to play an up-tempo game, rather than the NJ-style suffocating defense the Majors play.

But I must say, I don't have a ton of faith in BM hiring a coach; his record speaks for itself. 4 coaches have been behind the bench since BMil took over. Maybe he should just let Melnyk pick a coach, what's the worst that can happen?

I'd let Rocco and his Captain have big input into this choice.

  7. We'll see which coach gets fired after the playoffs. Could change the landscape a bit...

  8. Kirk Muller for coach. Randy Cunneyworth as asst.. and if Euge suggests.. Cameron for asst coach as well.

Muller can teach young guys. As a former player, and SC champion can earn the respect of the veterans.

This team, however, has to continue the uptempo game.. they had success with down the stretch

  9. I kind of thought from Melnyk implied he was hiring Cameron. Maybe that could mean as an assistant.

I agree with Nik that future captain Spez and Alfie should maybe be given some input into what direction we go.

I certainly wouldn't mind seeing couturier here. I'd prefer huberdeau, but I just don't see him being there past 4. Strome would also be nice.

It'll certainly be an interesting draft. I don't see the Sens moving up though...

  10. By Melnyk's comments, it was definitely implied, many times. As an assistant, I guess I wouldn't have objections, but I'm not sure how the incoming coach would feel.

I'm not sure I agree with players determining who the coach is. Maybe what they think is needed (in style of coaching), but not necessarily the individual. Hopefully the revolving door of coaches stops here.

I'd like Murray to try to move up with the Nashville pick. I think they'll get a good player at number 6 (maybe not the one they necessarily had a yearning for).
